Fake Dog Protectors Resort to Mob Hysteria & Tactics

By Dennis McKeon

FAKE DOG PROTECTORS RESORT TO MOB HYSTERIA and TACTICS, as the number of Greyhound Adoption Groups who have gone on public record by taking a stand against Amendment 13 nears the century mark.

The animal rights extremist groups, who are attempting to ban greyhound racing in Florida by Constitutional mandate, have gone off the deeper, deep end. Alex Jones and Q-Anon are old news. The anti-racing, anti-greyhound movement has taken their place in American culture and folklore, at the forefront of outlandish promotion of unlikely and inane conspiracy theories.

As 95 Greyhound-specific adoption charities publicly state their opposition to the tyranny of animal rights dementia, and to the patently anti-greyhound legislation that these two-bit tyrants and donation-hustlers have proposed to pervert the Florida Constitution, and to displace thousands of Florida’s Greyhounds, they have resorted to orchestrated personal attacks against the leaders and members of these charitable groups.

This follows on the heels of the now infamous conspiracy theory they put forth, alleging that these Greyhound adoption charities were somehow coerced or paid-off by the “racing industry”, to publicly disavow Amendment 13, and its proposed ban of Greyhound racing in Florida. Coerced, one imagines, by the “threat” of being blackballed-out of spending untold thousands of dollars of their self-generated-monies, to care for and re-home several thousand retiring greyhounds each year.

Just who in the “racing industry” made this threat, exerted this force, or financially seduced these adoption groups is unclear, inasmuch as the majority of Florida’s greyhound racetrack operators would rather their venues become full time casinos--and if you gave them a lie detector test, they’d just as soon be rid of racing.

So the anti-racing mob has resorted to heaping verbal abuse upon 95 Greyhound charities, their leaders and their members, whose only crime, it seems, is in having a future vision for the Greyhound in America. A future that preserves its athletic aptitudes, and honors its athletic heritage and legacy. A future that provides an objective method of selectivity for breeders, based upon actual athletic performance and performance data, observable and/or gleaned from head-to-head athletic competition. A future that will keep the breed on an athletically adaptive curve, and one that will insure a plethora of critical, genetic diversity.

These Greyhound adoption volunteers have performed an adoption miracle for the Greyhounds of America, without any assistance from the fake dog protectors of the “Yes on 13” mob. Today, adoption has become the final career phase for the American Racing Greyhound, thanks to the monumental, charitable and painstaking works of these adoption volunteers and the charities with which they are affiliated. Our US adoption network and culture is the envy of every country where Greyhounds exist for the purpose of racing. They are an iconic phenomenon, and they deserve the heartfelt thanks of every Greyhound-interested person in the world.

What they don’t deserve, is abuse, threats or bullying from the multi-millionaire, animal rights grifters, and the conspiracy-addled, emotional fascists of the Yes on 13 mob.

They also deserve a public apology from the culprits, for trying to advance their diabolically anti-greyhound agenda, by attempting to corrupt, in the public mind, by asinine conspiracy theorizing, their unselfish, charitable and unprecedented greyhound welfare endeavors and achievements.

I would personally like to thank each and every one of these individuals who belong to the 95 Greyhound adoption charities, for having the courage and the compassion to take a stand against the mob tactics of animal rights tyrants, for the present and future welfare of the Greyhound breed, and for epitomizing what it means to truly be “all about the dogs”.

Protect Greyhounds and Greyhound adoption groups from fake dog protectors (and wacky conspiracy theorists).

Before You Vote in Florida...

Ask yourself…
How can…
  • greyhounds “confined to crates 23 hours a day” run 45 mph on a track?
  • a greyhound die “every three days” when the injury rate in racing is 0.3%?
  • “thousands of dogs be thrown away” when the adoption rate for greyhounds is 95%-98%?
  • greyhounds be “abused and neglected” when they quickly become wonderful pets in homes?
If this proposed Amendment is focused on greyhound welfare, why does it...
  • allow casinos to close tracks on 12/31/18 rather than mandating closure in 2 years as purported?
  • commit nothing towards placing 8K-10K greyhounds in homes?
  • place greyhounds in overcrowded, high kill animal shelters?
  • ban wagering on live racing yet allows wagering on greyhound races from other states?
Do you know that...
  • greyhound racing contributed >$96 million into the Florida State School Trust Fund?
  • HSUS, ASPCA, Grey2K and PETA raised over $300 million last year and gave less than 1% to animal rescue groups?
  • passage of 13 allows expansion of casinos in FL without voter consent?
  • passage of 13 opens the state up to $500 million in lawsuits for inverse condemnation.
To date, 85 greyhound adoption groups in the US & Canada, comprised of thousands of volunteers who love the breed, support racing. They KNOW the dogs are treated right.
Amendment 13 is a poor bet for Florida taxpayers & for greyhounds.

A Greyhound Dies Every Three Days on a Florida Track - DEBUNKED

“You only use 10 percent of your brain. Eating carrots improves your eyesight. Vitamin C cures the common cold. Crime in the United States is at an all-time high.
None of those things are true. But the facts don't actually matter: People repeat them so often that you believe them. Welcome to the “illusory truth effect,” a glitch in the human psyche that equates repetition with truth. Marketers and politicians are masters of manipulating this particular cognitive bias---which perhaps you have become more familiar with lately.“ —- from “Want to Make a Lie Seem True? Say it Again. And Again. And Again.” Emily Dreyfuss 2/11/17 Sound familiar? One of the most often repeated phrases of the anti-racing faction in recent years is the deceptive statistic that a greyhound dies every three days on Florida racetracks. Grey2K masterminded this catch phrase after successfully sponsoring a law, which became effective mid-2013, requiring that every death of a greyhound occurring on Florida track grounds be reported to the state. It doesn’t matter if the death was race related, from illness or natural causes - it must be reported. That there was no effort or consideration when proposing this law to include safety measures to reduce injuries and fatalities, is indicative of their agenda. They were interested only in the numbers, not the welfare of the dogs. Five years later, Grey2K uses these reports to evoke shock, pity and anger, in their ongoing crusade to eradicate greyhound racing. From May 31, 2013 through September 30, 2017, there were 438 greyhound fatalities reported by various Florida racetracks. Grey2K has manipulated this raw data into one of the most blatant deceptions in their bag of tricks - “a greyhound dies on a Florida track every three days.” These 438 deaths of Florida greyhounds occurred over 52 months or 4.333 years. This equates to an average of 101 deaths per year. Grey2K’s claim of one death every three days, using the correct mathematical calculation, would equate to 122 per year, not 101 - a 20% overstatement on their part, but then they were never ones to shy away from exaggeration. What they don't tell you, because they don't know, is how many individual dogs were actually in residence at tracks over this 52 month period, or even over a 12 month period. We know that dogs come and go throughout the year, as some retire and others begin their official careers, so the static population at any given time has been estimated at approximately 8,000 dogs. In any given calendar year, the number might actually include as many as 12,000 individual dogs if the annual turnover rate were 50%, or 10,000 at 25%.
To be conservative, using the 8,000 figure and the true average of 101 deaths per year, the mortality rate would be 1.26%. That percentage would drop to 1% or less if the actual number of dogs in residence during a 12 month period were higher.
The 688 participants in a recent online survey circulated to owners of NGA bred pet greyhounds reported 1,506 greyhounds of any age resided in their homes in the year 2017. Of those, there were 21 deaths reported for greyhound pets younger than 6 years of age, or 1.39%.
The survey also asked participants for the overall number of pet greyhounds they’ve ever had in their homes, and how many had died prior to reaching 6 years of age. Out of 3,710 greyhounds reported, 167 died before age 6 - or 4.5%. While the pet survey is anecdotal and not independently verified, there’s no reason to believe the numbers and information reported are not accurate.
While any premature death of a racing greyhound is tragic and heart wrenching, a reasonable conclusion would be that the occurrence of fatalities at race tracks appears to be less than or in line with those occurring in pet greyhounds of similar age and from similar causes.
The larger issue is not the number of deaths or injuries on Florida greyhound tracks, but why and how could they be prevented? The Florida greyhound industry has repeatedly proposed legislation which would mandate that track owners implement strategic safety measures, as well as requiring greyhound handlers to report all racing-related injuries. At every turn, Grey2K and their affiliated legislators have struck down these proposals in favor of bills requiring injury reporting only, with no provision for injury prevention. Clearly the so-called greyhound “protectors” are more interested in maintaining their bank account balance than maintaining safe racing venues.

"Rescue"... What is it?

It's one little word that means a lot of different things to a lot of different people.  It is a word that has been used to inflect hurt upon people; it is a word that has been used to describe the process of rehoming animals.  It is a word that generates images of pathetic, abused animals, which then generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue for some group such as HSUS.  It is a word that has been properly used to describe animals taken out of horrific & shocking conditions.  One little word....  so many meanings.

In greyhounds, the word "rescue" was introduced to the lexicon to wound people, to hurt and destroy them, to dehumanize them, to place the greyhound racing community in as bad of a light as possible.  The word emerged from "breed rescues" such as Borzoi rescue, which is where abandoned and unwanted Borzoi were taken in and sheltered.

Grey2K Likes Crates at Home...  Crates are Good
Typical Home Crate is 31W x 48L x 34H
The word's connotation is something else. Most people who use it do so simply because it has become part of the general vocabulary. Racing people began the adoption model to "rescue" greyhounds from an older, agrarian culture which saw no reason to keep an animal that had outlived its usefulness, who saw no immorality in humane euthanasia, and did not perceive greyhounds as being necessarily "pets"---and to "rescue" them from the early animal rights zealots (ARZs) who, as John Hoyt of the HSUS said, preferred humane euthanasia to the "warehousing" of retired greyhounds. Early ARZs had portrayed the greyhound as vicious, bloodthirsty and trained to kill, during the great jackrabbit advocacy movement, which had a massive impact on generating a false public perception of the breed, and set racing's attempt at comprehensive adoption back by about a decade.

The people who use the word to harm and injure, and to sustain a negative stereotype, are like those who continually refer to our President using his middle name with emphasis purely to create the same negative effect. The majority of people are tragically misinformed about greyhounds. In today's racing/adoption model, there is no coercion. People willingly give their greyhounds to adoption groups who willingly see to their rehoming. No one forces anything upon anyone. Yet, when people use the term "rescue" it gives the impression that the racing industry had has been bad to them. However, there is a BIG difference between a dog that came off of a track to a dog wandering the streets.... No comparison at all.

Grey2K Calls Crates at Track "Abuse"
What's the difference? Track Crates are 36W x 48L x 36H
The "rescue" terminology, as it applies to racing greyhounds, is the bludgeon of the demagogue. It is used with malicious intent. It is a slur, a slur applied with a very broad brush, on those who do the right thing to the best of their ability. It is a slap in the face to the greatest majority of decent, hard-working, and dedicated folks who go without so their dogs are given every chance at full life before, during and after racing.

For years now, there is a group of money hungry lobbyists in the US that are trying to do away with dog racing. That group is Grey2K.  They started out here in the USA and now they have started working on Australia and the UK. While there are extremists everywhere, this particular group believe greyhounds are forced to race and racing them is cruelty. They prefer that the dogs be allowed to get fat and do nothing. To them, that meager existence is kindness. Grey2K excels at presenting the dogs, fit & trim, happy dogs in the prime of life, as abused and in danger of an imminent death that requires the dog be rescued.

They imply that the racing folks don't care and that they are only in it to "make a buck off the backs of the dogs".  They are propagandists and use their misinformation to pull on the heart strings of potential new income sources, enabling a kind of weird higher purpose for those donating. Personally, I get pretty darn pissed off about the whole thing.  All those wasted dollars would be better served going to actual adoption groups and/or local shelters.

Words matter.  Words can hurt.  Try to keep that in mind when you generalize.

ARFF (Animal Rights for Florida).... a Bunch of Junkyard Dawgs

Rabid Dog from To Kill A Mockingbird
Junkyard dogs...

The words evoke images of large dogs like Rottweilers or Pit Bulls, frothing at the mouth, snarling & snapping at those who would trespass into their territory...  a junk yard. Well, animal rights extremists, pretty much fit that description. The first time I met one up close & personal, I gained the understanding of the word, apoplectic, and he truly was foaming at the mouth, spittle flying everywhere in his hatred. He reminded me of a rabid dog.

Then, there was the movie, Junkyard Dog, which is a gritty psychological, horror movie that delves the demented mind of a murdering serial rapist, who engages in the cannibalsim of his victims. The movie is supposed to be based on actual events. The madman in the movie is oddly charismatic, yet vicious in his attacks.

For better or worse, right or wrong, the phrase "junkyard dog" has come to signify the bad, the ugly, and the dangerous in our society. And, in this writer's honest opinion, Animal Rights Foundation of Florida (ARFF) pretty much fulfills that description.

I'm guessing dear reader you are wondering why.

Well, for one, there is their modus operandi.  They harass, browbeat, antagonize, and attempt to coerce & intimidate those who have a different philosophy than they. They do this with protests, which are conducted in ways similar to the Westboro Baptist Church protests. They are way less than tolerant of any and slander those who humanely employ animals in any way. And, like Grey2K, they employ lies, propaganda, and misinformation to support their political agenda, which includes pushing everyone to a vegan diet.

ARFF (how funny that their acronym sounds like a junkyard dog barking) supports the banning of the following activities (partial list):
  • hunting
  • fishing
  • farming & ranching
  • any & all animal in entertainment (zoos, bio parks, aquariums, racing venues, and circuses)
  • any & all breeding of domestic animals
ARFF believes that there should be no dairies as "Cows milk is for calves, not humans".  ARFF tells people on their webpage, "The best way to help end the suffering of cows in the dairy industry is to eliminate dairy and all animal products from your diet."

ARFF believes that people should not eat eggs and they say so on their webpage, "Don't buy eggs. Adopting a vegan diet, one free of animal products, is the most important thing you can do to stop the suffering of chickens."

ARFF believes that all animal agriculture should be done away with. They especially have it in for pigs & pig farms. "Farms not only abuse animals, they are notoriously bad for the environment. Typical pig farms use an astounding amount of water and produce tons of manure every day. Too often, waste from pig farms leaks into rivers and streams, killing fish and contaminating drinking water. Pig farms also foul the air."

Where the domestic animals to go?  What's to become of them?  If they are not bred, the breeds & species will become extinct.  But, I guess that's OK by ARFF.  After all, those animals are not a part of Florida's wildlife.  Contrary to proven wildlife management principles, ARFF wants to "protect" invasive species, as they are now part of Florida's wildlife, even if those species wipe out the native flora & fauna!  "We need to learn to coexist with all wildlife" including coyotes, armadillos (reservoirs for leprosy), and feral hogs. I'm assuming that they also oppose the capture other invasive, non-native species such as Burmese pythons and Nile Monitor lizards.  (LISTING of non-native reptilian species currently found in FL)

With regards to greyhound racing, ARFF really goes over the top with the lies.  For instance,

Quote from ARFF, Campaigns, Greyhound Racing page
Numerous people have requested backup documentation, a source for their statement that "thousands are killed".  None has been forthcoming.  There is nothing that can provide supporting documentation because about 95% of greyhounds go into pet homes upon retirement. Others are reserved for breeding and continuing the greyhound breed.
Another lie from them,
Quote from ARFF, Campaigns, Greyhound Racing page
For the past several years, fewer than 12,000 greyhounds have been whelped on an annual basis. That number includes stillborn puppies and those that die as neonates. The last year there were 25,000 pups whelped was in 2005 - 10 years past.  Here are accurate numbers taken from the NGA's whelping report.  Numbers are not yet available for 2014 but there is no reason to expect a sudden increase to >12,000, especially since as of Aug 2014, there were 7,265 reported births.
                  Year              Number                 Born
2013 10,657
2012 10,157
2011 11,759
2010 12,801

Dogs, in general, have a whelping mortality rate of about 20%, which means 1 in 5 puppies die before they are 5 wks old.

Another lie spread by ARFF is

ARFF Webpage, Campaigns, Greyhound Racing
Anyone who owns a greyhound of any kind can testify that the dogs, in general, spend 18 - 20 hrs a day sleeping. Doesn't matter.  As for the size of the crates, they are much larger than anything available on the pet market.  The crates in the racing kennels measure 48" x 48" x 48", more than roomy enough for the dogs to stand, stretch, and lay flat. Definitely not "cramped".

Human contact...  Dogs are handled daily. They're rubbed down, inspected for injuries, petted, kissed, and loved upon in general.  A most egregious misstatement of fact.  Just look at the pictures. Happy hounds are not made happy by neglect or abuse.

ARFF negotiates in bad faith. At the Sanford Orlando Kennel Club (SOKC), racing folks that are fed up with being portrayed as abusive, greedy people. As a result, they have been staging counter-protests at the same time as ARFF has been holding their anti-racing ones. Prior to their most recent protest on June 6, ARFF complained to the Longwood Police Dept about the SOKC counter protests. The LPD requested that the racing folks stay on the other side of the street from the ARFF protesters. Just like Grey2K...  trying to stifle the truth! Anyway, at the protest, ARFF teamed up with another extremist organization, Take Your Blinders Off (TYBO), which was founded by a veterinarian and makes both ARFF & Grey2K look somewhat reasonable. Yeah...  scary isn't it.

TYBO's main man bills himself as Randall "Vegan" Cannon.  He bought a Toyota Tundra and installed a digital billboard in the bed on which he uploads a slide show. It changes according to the venue.  It could be farms scenes; orcas & dolphins, greyhounds...

This man is nuts. I cannot say anything about his clinic, the Fairbanks Animal Hospital in Winter Park, FL. I have never been there and I'm never going to go there for a couple of reasons: 1) this man is over the top and 2) by his own admission, he has "never seen an orthopedic injury" that a greyhound got in their backyard" or one with "heat stroke". Makes me wonder how much knowledge about sighthounds in general he actually has.  He certainly is blinded by his hatred of greyhound racing & greyhound people.

The extremists found in these two groups are nasty little people. They cannot see beyond their own agenda. They don't care who or what they hurt to accomplish that agenda. They would rather see the animals dead & extinct, than have a job.

The war against the extremists has only just begun.  It's going to get worse before it gets better.

Grey2K: Has Motive Overcome Ethics?

By Dick Ciampa

Grey2K has always been entirely one-sided in its campaign against greyhound racing. However, in the last couple of years, the organization has shown a disturbing tendency to move beyond its usual self-serving “advocacy”.

In 2011, an owner of racing (and retired) greyhounds wanted to help Ronald McDonald House. The plan was to donate all earnings from several of their racing hounds. In addition, once retired, the hounds would join another in the household in becoming therapy dogs for children with cancer, thereby helping very sick children and, in a low key manner, promoting adoption.

Ronald McDonald House provides accommodation for families near the hospital where their child is being treated for cancer. It is a compassionate, humane charity, and it is hard to imagine anyone not wanting to support it. Except, apparently, Grey2K.

When Grey2K found out about the plan, they persuaded (some might say bullied) Ronald McDonald House to decline the offer.  Nice job Grey2K, why help the parents of children with cancer?

That same year, in Australia, “Go the Pink Dog” raised over $120,000 for the McGrath Foundation, which funds specialized breast care nurses for women fighting breast cancer, as well as programs to raise prevention awareness among young women.

Go the Pink Dog to Benefit The McGrath Foundation
“Go the Pink Dog” is a racing industry program that was started in 2010, and runs for one month each year. During that month, one greyhound in each race wears a pink vest. If that hound wins their race, $500 is donated to the McGrath Foundation.

In 2011 representatives from the McGrath Foundation declined to appear to accept their very generous check after receiving untold numbers of letters and e-mails, mainly from supporters of “a well-known US-based anti-racing lobby group”, whose name is familiar to many, and even death threats from similar local opponents.  Who would imagine standing tall and proud in opposition to helping women fighting breast cancer?

More recently, on April 30, 2013, Grey2K leaders posted a request on their Facebook page, asking a UK hospital not to accept money from greyhound racing.  This was in response to an event planned for Saturday, May 11, to raise money for The Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital Charity. In addition, 10% of the money raised would go to The Retired Greyhound Trust. Grey2K is not only attempting to subvert a fundraiser for the children’s hospital, but also to deprive greyhound adoption of 10% of the money.

Looking at the big picture, Grey2K has lobbied against raising money for the Ronald McDonald House, The McGrath Foundation, and now, The Great Ormond Children’s Hospital Charity and The Retired Greyhound Trust.

Every Grey2K supporter should take a step back and ask themselves whether, in good conscience, they support these tactics, and by extension, the organization behind them.  How does depriving charities of needed funding contribute to the greater good?  Observers can be forgiven if the term “mean-spirited” comes to mind.

Grey2K it seems, is willing, regardless of whom may be hurt, to suppress any positive aspect of greyhound racing.

What is Grey2K afraid of?

Apparently, the truth: which is that, like everything else, greyhound racing is a spectrum, much of it good, some of it bad. But that doesn’t play as well, or bring in donations as successfully, as the “all bad” image Grey2K chooses to present, no matter who is innocently hurt in the process

Grey2K, Carey Theil Help Prove Cocaine Problems Very Low in Greyhound Racing

By Dick Ciampa

Grey2K's Executive Director and co-founder Carey Theil helps prove how rare cocaine is in greyhound racing. Today, Grey2K and Carey Theil announced that they discovered 4 more cases of a greyhound testing positive for cocaine.

GREY2K USA on NPR: four more cases of greyhounds testing cocaine positive in Florida, legislature needs to phase out dog racing now (23-28 minute marks).
http://news.wfsu.org/post/capital-report-04-02-2015

We know from Grey2K's 80 page report released earlier this year that there were 16 cases of cocaine found in greyhounds during the 7-year period of January 2008 to the end of November 2014.

So in 7 years and 3 months, we have a total of 20 greyhounds that tested positive for cocaine.

Here are the drug test results from Florida for fiscal year 2008/2009. Benzoylecgonine is cocaine.

Here are the drug test results for Florida for fiscal year 2009/2010

You can see the number of samples analyzed in 2008/2009 were 54,942 and in 2010 the number of samples analyzed were 58,095. The other years weren't available online so I will estimate the number of samples analyzed real low at 40,000 per year for the remaining 5 years for a total of 200,000 for those 5 years. If you add the 200,000 to the 58,095 from 2010 and 54,942 from 2009 and you have a total of 313,037 samples analyzed for those 7 years. That was the time frame Grey2K had 16 cocaine positives for not only Florida, but Alabama also. Now for part of that time Alabama had three tracks running, Victoryland, Birmingham and Mobile. During 2011 Victoryland closed and only the other two tracks were running. We still have to add the first 3 months of 2015 so if we again go with a low number of 40,000 for the year we would add 10,000 for 1/4 of the year 2015 bringing the total number of samples analyzed for the 7 years and 3 months to 323,037.

Now with 20 positives out of 323,037 samples analyzed that give you a percentage of greyhounds testing positive at 0.00619.

The percentage of greyhounds testing positive for cocaine isn't extreme, Grey2K is.

Robert F. Kennedy once said this about extremists,
"What is objectionable, what is dangerous about extremists is not that they are extreme, but that they are intolerant. The evil is not what they say about their cause, but what they say about their opponents."

From AR to PR

By Jessica Frank

The first time I really remember being smitten by a greyhound, it was actually a statue. When I was young, I used to watch Wheel of Fortune with my mom and my grandma. If you watched the old original Wheel of Fortune shows, you may remember the little shopping bit people did after each round, in which they took the "money" they won and shopped from a selection of things that were offered by the show. One of those things was a white greyhound statue. No one ever bought it that I recall, but my eyes went to it every time, the graceful neck, the willowy limbs, the fine slender head. Of all the fancy furniture, electronics and vacation trips, I knew what I would have bought if I had won a round on that show - it would have been that statue. Later, when my mom took me to local dog shows, I would gravitate over to those beautiful, stately sighthounds. They captured my fascination and that never died.

Like many people, what I saw about racing was never positive. I saw pictures of starved and abused dogs, heard stories about dogs beaten or put to death in various cruel ways if they didn't win, and it was burned into my brain that dog racing was a horrible thing full of death and cruelty for the dogs. That's why, many years later, when I was part of a big pet online forum and someone asked "Would you go to a dog race?" I answered I would NEVER go to one, I would never support that cruelty. Almost everyone else echoed similar sentiments.

But then someone new came along, an outsider, and he began telling a completely different kind of story, one I had never heard before. Owners and trainers were dedicated to their dogs. The dogs were given the best of the best, and when they retired they certainly were not discarded or killed. I was resistant to that at first. I began pointing out websites, statistics, photos. And very quickly and neatly he pointed out these were outright lies, how laughable the statistics were. He explained how those places had an agenda and it wasn't to save dogs. He then showed me links of his own that told the truth, the REAL statistics. I became more quiet and thoughtful. I watched him patiently continue to address other people's accusations and racing. It doesn't seem like one person, who I did not even know personally, could change a belief that was fed and nurtured for years by TV, the Internet, photos and various other media, but I couldn't deny one thing: What he said just made sense. I had learned long ago about PeTA and HSUS. It wasn't so hard for me to see how AR organizations could be just as fanatical and misleading.

My first feeling was one of relief. I was relieved that those atrocities I thought were happening were mostly fantasy. And then I felt somewhat humiliated. I had bitten the bait they put out; hook, line and sinker. I had believed it for years without ever hearing the other side of the story. And then I felt angry. I had been lied to and used to spread hate and false information. It's something I would be careful not to repeat, from that day forward, about ANY issue. It literally was a life-changing day for me.

From then on, I sought out more information. I found the Grey Talk board and read and browsed everything I could find about greyhounds. This was actually several years before I would adopt my first hound. While I had wanted to for a long time, I either already had a full house or didn't have the choice at the time. In late January 2013, I would finally get my own hound, and I was determined that everyone I would meet would not see this hound as a helpless victim, but a proud dog with a proud history and meticulous upbringing by many people.

I just want to say a special thanks, in closing, to Christopher Grieb. Thank you for going to that angry hornet's nest of a pet forum those years ago and writing page upon page of insightful, truthful posts. I bet you didn't know you'd change somebody's life that day

When Greyhound Protection is . . . Not

By Dick Ciampa

There are currently two pieces of legislation before the Florida legislature. One, introduced by Sen. Sobel called the Vicky Q. Gaetz Greyhound Protection Act, calls for racing greyhound injury reporting. The other, Smith Radar Greyhound Protection Bill, SB 262, HB 187, also calls for injury reporting, and in addition, requires a wide range of protective measures including more stringent BACKGROUND CHECKS for those working with the dogs, and a number of track safety measures aimed at preventing injuries.

Most people, if asked which legislation they would support, would say the choice is obvious, and would favor the more comprehensive bill. Why wouldn’t they? It will reduce the number of injuries with measures such as upgrading track surface maintenance procedures, INSTALLING a guard covering the live rail, installing a breakaway lure arm, as well as ensuring timely and detailed reporting when an injury occurs. Choosing the more comprehensive bill is simple common sense.

Those same people might therefore be more than a little surprised to find out that Grey2K, the self-proclaimed “largest greyhound protection group in the country”, is supporting the Gaetz bill.

When asked about the Smith Radar bill, Grey2K pays lip service to its content, and has even produced a note sent to Carey Thiel by Representative Radar, thanking him for his support. However, nowhere on the Grey2K website, on their Facebook page, or anywhere in the press that we have been able to find, does Grey2K communicate the benefits of the Smith Radar bill, or encourage their readership to support it. Instead, they strongly encourage support of the narrowly-focused Gaetz bill, which has no provision for preventing injuries. It appears that Representative Radar’s thank you was based on a misunderstanding of the Grey2K position.

Effectively, Grey2K is taking a stand against protecting greyhounds.

Why would they do that? There are several interesting answers, none of which has anything to do with greyhound welfare.

Carey Thiel, Executive Director of Grey2K is also on the board of Stop Predatory GAMBLING. If greyhound racing is brought to an end, so is a source of GAMBLING, in view of which, supporting a bill that enforces better conditions for greyhounds is counterproductive.

In addition, and ironically, several tracks have been very supportive of Grey2K in recent years, as they would like to back out of the agreement that requires live racing in order to offer other forms of gambling. If Grey2K endorses a bill that places responsibility upon these tracks to implement safety measures, it would certainly dampen their support. So faced with a choice between protecting greyhounds and protecting tactical relationships, Grey2K has turned away from the greyhounds they claim to work for.

Finally, and most importantly, consider that Grey2K and donation campaigns are almost synonymous. This very month of April, Greyhound Adoption Month, their Facebook page featured a warm and fuzzy piece about adoption, followed by a series of fundraising opportunities. One might reasonably expect the proceeds of those fundraisers would be explicitly earmarked for adoption, but no. All resulting DONATIONS go directly and silently into Grey2K coffers.

In the context of the Smith Radar Greyhound Protection Bill, the Grey2K math seems to say, if we genuinely protect racing greyhounds thereby reducing injuries, the cash streaming in will SLOW down. Conversely, if we defeat injury-preventing safety measures, effectively helping to increase the number of injuries, we are gaining a larger database to exploit for fundraising. And as for the tracks, once those relationships have served their purpose, they can be discarded.

Genuine greyhound protection is nowhere in this picture.

Block & Delete, the Grey2K & AR (animal rights) Way

Much ado has been made about this blog not publishing ANONYMOUS comments. We do that because we believe people should not be able to hide behind ANONYMOUS, that they should have enough courage of their convictions to post a name.  If someone posts their name, they get published. However, courageous people who post on the Grey2K FaceBook page or the Grey2K blog, don't get that much consideration.  What happens is that Grey2K immediately deletes the post and blocks the person.  Grey2K gets rid of people who question them and their comments; those who seek clarification or who want to clarify and provide a counterpoint to a statement.

Here are some FaceBook comments on the Grey2K policy to delete & block.

Erin Walker: LOL. They just blocked me,  can no longer comment on their site. I wasn't even that nasty either!! Someone had commented on one of their posts asking where they could get a greyhound, Grey2K responded with their adoption referral I looked and noticed that a lot of states weren't even represented in their list. (according to their list I couldn't even adopt in my state) So I asked why they offered so few adoption groups as options? Do you get kick backs from these groups? I said that there were tons of groups they could adopt from and probably some in their area, I gave a few options, and said they could google adoption groups in their area, and said that you can even adopt from the tracks...Wonder which part they didn't like...
January 27

Kevin Muckleroy:  I just got blocked because of a post I put on Grey2k. To tell you how bad they lie, they were at my home track yesterday for the matinee. Christine took pictures of the parking lot from over 1/4 mile away saying that the parking lot was empty. Wrong!! Then the she posted a picture from the empty seats on the first floor pointing out all of the empty seats. Well of course they were empty. It was two hours before post time! The attendance for Wednesday's matinee was over 500. Where were the pictures of the packed club house? Just another way for these idiots to deprive the public of the truth. Thursday night had an attendance of over 1000. I don't believe that we will be closing the doors anytime soon as they advertised. What Burns me up? If you're going to fight, fight fair!! Don't continue to lie to gain support. If you want to debate a subject, then debate it. Don't delete the other side because you are too chicken shit to hear the truth!!
March 14

Melony Cleveland: Awesome, I made 2 comments on Grey2K USA's wall and got myself blocked and had my comments removed!
July 2

Delete & block is SOP (standard operating procedure) for not only Grey2K, but pretty much ALL animal rights zealot groups & forums. After all, they like keeping their minions dumb & miserable. Think about it, do you believe they would get 1/2 of the donations they get if people were informed as to the truth of situations?

In May, Lyman High School (mascot is the Greyhound) used to hold an event at Sanford Orlando Kennel Club. The event was not held during racing hours and it raised money for greyhound adoption groups. That was the SOLE purpose for the event.  So, this year, Animal Rights of Florida (ARFF) and other AR groups, put untold pressure on the school district and board. They got the event cancelled.

Lyman HS Greyhound vs Racing Greyhound

It's a shame that the school district caved in to the pressure from the AR zealots. What a shame for the kids of Lyman High School but, most especially, this really hurts the adoptable Greyhounds that benefited from the funds raised.

Here is a wonderful photo essay on last year's event on the Orlando Sentinel.

Since there is no gambling involved and no greyhound racing, we can safely surmise that this action was purely to make the adoptable dogs do without. Once again the ARs prove they really don't care a plugged nickle about the dogs. The haters just keep on hating and the domestic terrorists win.  And, believe me, the anti's are gloating.

A victory for Greyhounds?  I think not.  They are the ones that lost this one...  lost adoption funds...  lost opportunities for people to meet & adopt dogs...  and probably lost homes.  Where is the concern for the dogs?

Some were quite upset at this turn of events and contacted ARFF.  As usual, comments were deleted and the person commenting was blocked.

Brandi's comment was not nasty or unkind. It just pointed out that the only thing accomplished by their action in getting the event cancelled was to take needed adoption funds away from the groups that work day in & out with the dogs.  The groups that provide direct care and support.

Another supporter of the event, Aimee, contacted them too.

Her comment, pointed out the loss of much needed funds and asked ARFF if they were going to replace that much needed money.  She pointed out how short sighted they were and how selfish.
Her comment was also deleted.

And Ellen's comment didn't last long at all, being taken down within minutes of being posted.

In the past, this event has garnered anywhere from $500 to $1300 in donations for adoption groups and Sanford Orlando Kennel Club added money to it. Sanford Orlando dollars were 100% matching, adoption groups have been denied anywhere between $1000 and $2600, maybe more.  That's a lot of dog food.

So, in response to the criticism and comments about lost adoption funds, Animal Rights Florida posted,
"... We provided Lyman with over 100 fundraising ideas for high school students, so they could continue to help rescued greyhounds."
C'mon ARFF...  why don't you, Grey2K, and HSUS cough up the $2600 that you denied the dogs.? Rather than offering platitudes, offer something substantial and beneficial.

Lie & Deny; Delete & Block....  It's all SOP for them regardless of who or what gets hurt.

Screenshot Proof of deleted comments
You just gotta love the ARs and GREY2K. Such accepting, considerate, and respectful people. The best of the best of humankind! My very first ever comment on one of their last posts not only went unanswered, but was deleted. I also can no longer comment on their posts/page. Really great people there...if you're one of their zombies!

They don't want people to ask questions because the answers, if they are answered truthfully, can only hurt their agenda. They want people who'll follow blindly, parrot their words and who can't be bothered to find out the truth for themselves. It's difficult to make people change their minds once they've chosen sides because they don't want to feel stupid for choosing the wrong side in the first place.

The pro racing community on the other hand, has shown only acceptance, respect, and a desire to TEACH the truth.

Yours in greyhounds....

Greyhound Friends of Hopkington.... Killing Greyhounds - Part 3

I started writing this piece back in 2013. It's a difficult piece as each time I visit it, I think of the two greyhounds that Louise Coleman destroyed. At that time, my anger was too fresh and I set this aside.  It seems like a good time to finish this.

HISTORY
Several years back, Greyhound Friends of Hopkington and Louise Coleman were held up as a "partner" by Grey2K, when they were refusing to take responsibility for the dogs in MA, dogs that were displaced by their efforts at lobbying the Legislature to ban & shut down greyhound racing. One has to wonder how Dorchak & Theil feel, what they think, about their pal, Louise destroying healthy dogs. After all, that's one of their claims that they have used and currently use to convince people that greyhound racing people and greyhound racing are cruel. It is their major claim that those in greyhound racing are uncaring; that the dogs are only a source of money to be used, spent, and then callously discarded.

UMR High Roller
The IRS 990 forms for Greyhound Friends of Hopkington show that the dogs do make a lot of money for some of those who take them FREE from owners, calling them rescues, presenting them as helpless & abused creatures, and then SELLING them for several hundred dollars.  The 2010 IRS 990 Form, shows that Greyhound Friends raked in more than $475,000 in grants & donations and their total assets are over $1,000,000!!!!  That's right folks - ONE MILLION PLUS!  That is a lucrative business!

It's even better than what Grey2K rakes in!

People have known that Louise has been AR (anti-racing) forever.  And as previously mentioned, she was one of the driving forces that campaigned & lobbied against greyhound racing in New England. She's been around for a very long time, doing this same thing, over & over, again & again.  When the greyhounds in Massachusetts found themselves displaced and with no place to go, her group, Greyhound Friends of Hopkinton, was one of the groups that refused to take responsibility for the dogs they caused to be displaced.  That's when Grey2K claimed them as a "partner".

In a blog post, Carey Theil of Grey2K writes,
"On Monday, we hosted a small party at the GREY2K USA office to celebrate the birthday of my adopted greyhound Zoe. Although this was a joyful occasion, it does remind me now of all the family birthday parties Bubbles Sidekick will never have."
What about the birthdays that neither 7 yr old Primco Yogi and 5 yr old UMR High Roller will never have?  Their destruction was not at the hands of a cruel & evil greyhound racing owner or trainer.  Their destruction was at the hands of a greyhound RESCUE group associated with Grey2K.  A group that destroyed them for no apparent reason other than they had been taking up space for several years.

I am happy to say that something good came about because of their deaths...  Louise Coleman & Greyhound Friends of Hopkington has a difficult time getting greyhounds for adoption anymore. Still...

By scouring public forums, I discovered that George Scheide tried to volunteer there once, only to be told, "we don't need any help." Excuse me? According to George, at that time, there was ONE person there. The number of dogs they had was twice their capacity and they would not even let George LOOK AT the dog they'd traveled over an hour to see. George was told, "he (the dog) is too shy." If the dog is that shy, then why is he on the web site as available for adoption?
UMR High Roller

Other comments from public forums show long time greyhound owners, including former adopters of greyhound friends, "blacklisted" and "persona non grata".  And, perhaps not so surprisingly, a comment surfaced that this was not the first time that Louise disposed a dog that she didn't like or thought was unadoptable.

So, OK, Roller & Yogi had some issues.  Let's look at Roller...

Roller was a black dog and black dogs are harder to find homes for because they are black. He also had issues as he would pee in his crate. He couldn't help his color and the other may have been either behavioral or medical. It is a known fact that neutered dogs can suffer from incontinence.  I had one.  Hormone injections fixed that problem.  However, Roller was never given the chance to be adopted. According to sources in the know, when adopters would come by to look at dogs, Roller was banished to the back kennel.

And Yogi?  What's his story?

Yogi was born without a tail. He was not the prettiest boy around so he too was deemed hard to adopt. Yogi, at least, had been placed in one home that wasn't a good fit for him. It is said that he was returned as he reportedly bit one of the family members.  From there on out, he too was banished to the back kennel.

Primco Yogi
If this is indeed how Roller & Yogi were handled, in my opinion, they were destroyed as a matter of convenience. They were used to solicit funds as poor, abused greyhounds, and then they were callously discarded when their usefulness was done.  Seems to me that Grey2K's friend of greyhounds, Louise Coleman, did exactly what she and the Grey2K organization falsely accuse the racing folks of doing - using, abusing, and discarding greyhounds.

What I cannot comprehend is why people think that people like Louise Coleman, Ingrid Newkirk, et al, are angels?  How and why do so many people praise and defend them and their actions? Yet these same defenders will condemn and call for the destruction of an animal owner who uses a horse to pull a buggy or a greyhound for racing. What logic exists that supports their defense of those who use animals for political purposes, killing them when they become inconvenient vs their condemnation of those who have animals that work for a living?

Yogi's former owner & handler wrote,
"I can't even read all these posts! I am ANGRY and HURT! That ***** woman PROMISED me! That ****** woman has my phone number! I would have taken MY dog if I had been alerted of the plan! Yogi did NOT have a roman nose but his tail looked like that of a bunny! Oh my dog, do I have stories about this guy! I loved him! When my tears clear, I will read all comments in this thread. He won races! He had personality! He traveled the country! He was abused, I mended him and he won me more races! He had an invite to palm beach to run.. Till the kennel owner wanted to get a look at him and got snarled at! When I got him back from Arizona 8 lbs underweight and 12 bedsores on each pressure point I PROMISED HIM he would have a couch someday! OMG I m angry! I could have brought him home if I would have known! He would NEVER had bitten me! It was only a year ago I spoke to Louise and got some phony reassurance! What are my options now? I'm going to dig out all my pics and have a vigil! RIP Yogi! I m so sorry! This just isn't fair and I think Louise Coleman should pay for this and WE need to prevent this from EVER happening again! I m at a big loss in my heart!
Yogi had an option that was not exercised! I'm not sure the vet he saw had any biz giving advice. I handled Yogi for nearly 3 yrs! I knew him. How much time did the Vet spend with him!??? And if he bit Pats hubby... Obvious he was afraid of men! Thank you to the man in Tucson that was handling him!"
So, we know that Yogi had at least one option that was not explored.  If the former owner cared  enough to follow up on the dog, to leave their phone number with instructions to call, why wouldn't they be called?  Is it because they are a racing person?  Is that the only reason and is it a good enough reason?

I don't get it.  But, what I do get is that people like Coleman, Newkirk, and the Grey2K crowd need to be stopped.  They need to be stopped from destroying those that are inconvenient to their purposes: man & beast.

Yours in greyhounds...

Following are some random comments scoured from the various forums on this sordid situation. Names have been deleted for privacy reasons.

"She gets so much praise and glory for the things she does for some reason. She was questioned on Greytalk a few weeks back for an adoption situation and people flocked to the thread to defend her. I have personally spoken to about 10 to 20 former adopters from them that hate her now because of issues post adoption also!"

"You always hope and pray once a dog gets into adoption it's cared for and loved as it's been all it's life."

"This is a horrible outcome for these hounds. I am not grouping all ARs together, but clearly AR does not always equal pro-life for the hounds."

"Coleman has done this sort of thing before. It's not something new to her as if she'd just gone off the deep-end. It's part of her SOP."

"Does anyone find it odd that greyhound trainers (at race tracks) handled these dogs and found them safe and sane to place into the greyhound adoption world??? I honestly can't see a trainer willingly placing a known problem dog into the greyhound adoption world. Call me silly but if I had such an aggressive dog in my kennel I can't say I would place it with a group."

"I can't say this surprises me from Louise. I wouldn't have trusted her with a dead fish."

"She (Coleman), her group, and a few others do a lot of things behind backs. I remember the mess with the Galgos... She placed two Galgos a number of years ago...Sari and Talco..only one survived...long story.... She can talk a wonderful game...but don't turn your back on her."

"I personally tried to spring Roller out for a friend, and they did everything in their power to try to talk me into another dog.....When I said I only wanted him they cut all contact...I have a short email chain that refers to this.. Promised they would have the "boarding kennel" where he was located call me to talk about him, I never heard so much as a peep! I sent emails after the phone conversation too with no replies. I was also told that GH Friends reportedly were telling people that I had changed my mind which was B.S!"

"I was contacted by a former volunteer. According to the volunteer this is common practice. In the year and a half that his person volunteered with them they had seven dogs PTS!!!"

"They can delete all the posts they want this is not going away. They didn't reach out for help because they didn't want help. This has happened before. They have a "back kennel" where "outsiders" are not allowed. I spoke with a former volunteer that said there were seven euthanized in a short period of time. They are killing the dogs they think will be or have proven to be difficult to place. This is bigger than Yogi and Roller. Yogi and Roller were not dangerous mentally ill dogs. They were an inconvenience and expense that they no longer wanted to be bothered with."

"Destroyed by an anti-racing "rescue" group, who called him unadoptble. Yet, his trainer says, "He was a sweet dog, full of personality and a kennel favorite." They say he bit. No outreach to his connections. Just death."

The Compassion and Brilliance of Grey2K

On Saturday, March 28, multiple anti-racing protests were held by Grey2K zealots and minions at multiple locations in Florida.  The weather today is bright & sunny on Florida's east coast.  At the Daytona Beach Kennel Club, temps today are forecasted to reach the upper 60's, depending on the weather source, between 67 & 69 degrees.  Please note in the screen shot below, under "63 deg" it states that the "real feel" is 73 deg, that takes into consideration the humidity and other factors.

Sounds like a pretty pleasant day for people to be out in the Florida sunshine holding their anti-racing protests because, according to them, it is cruel for greyhounds to race and live in a protected kennel compound. To be catered to from nose to tail, for work that consists of running, chasing an artificial lure, around a groomed sand track for about 30 seconds every couple of days.

However, what about the dogs that the protesters bring with them?  How does that "real feel" of 73 degrees feel to them out in the sun with neither shade nor water?  Yes, you heard me right...  no water for their dogs.  No shade for them either.

Meanwhile, back in the Kennel Club, the greyhounds are being well tended. Those waiting to race are in an air conditioned building and after they run they are cooled, given water and walked then into the truck and shortly back to the kennel. Those dogs which may be in "trucks" are under a roof with industrial fans blowing on each of them, a dip tank, misters, and hoses as well as many water buckets. And, those not scheduled to run, those back in the kennels, are in climate controlled kennel buildings or in turnout pens that have plenty of shade & water.  None of the racing dogs are out in the hot Florida sun doing without.

By the way, one of the kennel workers saw the poor dogs out there without water and shade. He said, "I offered to bring them a water bucket, but they walked away."  People like that should not own greyhounds. They are putting their own feelings & politics ahead of the welfare of their own dogs, dogs they supposedly love.  Yeah...  right...  the only thing about their dogs that they love is that they "saved them".  Saved them to abuse them for their own purposes.  I have no decent words to describe people like that...  only vulgarities.

It isn't like this kind of abuse is an isolated case.  It happens with this bunch time & again.  Make no mistake, it IS abuse as most areas have laws about dogs being without shade & water.

Protest on Florida street. Tender dog feet on hot pavement... no shade, no water, flexi-leads...  please note the lolling tongues
The recent Grey2K post about the protest rallies even ASKED them to leave their dogs home. However, the request was made not for the benefit of the dogs but because "media is expected so be sure to look your best!" They don't want the media to see hot & abused dogs, thirsty dogs without a water bucket in sight.  They don't want the media to see the cruelty behind THEIR actions.  What does that tell you?

Meanwhile, in another location, Palm Beach Kennel Club, we have a Grey2K Board Member, Kathy Pelton protesting.  In a conversation with her, she claims affiliation with Hollydogs.

Anyone who knows anything about Hollydogs has to be struck by the conflict of interests.  Grey2K and Hollydogs Silvana Rizzi, President Hollydogs & wife to Sergio Cortella, take a rigid, anti greyhound racing stance. Ms. Rizzi has been quoted as saying in a 2 Dec 2010 article in the Miami Herald that greyhound racing needs to be abolished. The Hollydogs website supports that anti-racing mantra with numerous statements on many pages about the "plight" of the greyhounds and "thousands destroyed" because they are too slow.  One particular comment caught my eye,
"Thousands of greyhounds are euthanized on a regular basis because they are not fast enough. Greyhounds add to the existing pet overpopulation crisis. Too many dogs and not enough responsible homes for life."
Sergio Cortella, Silvana Rizzi's husband, for many years participated in lure coursing events with his greyhounds. Sergio has also arranged the sale of retired American racing dogs to Argentina, his homeland.  He has also arranged for the sale of the stakes placed dog, Ebony River, to Argentina for racing breeding purposes. All of the dogs he arranged to go to Argentina participated in greyhound racing and racing breeding! What's with that???

I have to laugh at the thought of a Grey2K Board Member volunteering for an anti-racing group, Hollydogs, that sells retired racing greyhounds from the USA to Argentina.  Oh what a tangled web we weave, when we first practice to deceive!

And, at Sanford Orlando, the protesters did not pay attention to their backdrop.

The banner behind them has it right.  If you want to learn the truth about greyhounds & greyhound racing, ask those involved in the sport, not the zealots and abusers, who bring their dogs out into the hot Florida sun with neither shade nor water.  Those dingbats who walk their dogs down the middle of a street in the hot Florida sun, burning tender pads.

Yours in greyhounds....

Anti's... Who, What, and How They Are

Just over a year ago, this blog posted the personal story of Amy, who went from anti-racing to being pro-racing. That post can be found HERE.

There were several replies to her post, some of which were not published due to their nastiness and also because the poster would not sign their name or even a pseudonym.  They have so much courage in their convictions that they chose to hide behind the name - ANONYMOUS.  In general, not all the time, most of those ANONYMOUS posts are deleted.  However, one in particular I retained and I'm going to share it with you now.

What kind of person is so nasty that they unload on a person who shares a tragic story, Elaine, and attempts to belittle & demean another person, Amy, with whom they disagree about greyhound racing?  The only people this nasty are animal rights & anti-racing zealots.

In comment sections worldwide, I have seen these terrorists wish for the deaths of others, curse people & their children, and, in some cases as with groups like Stop Huntington Animal Cruelty (SHAC), firebomb houses among other nasty forms of terror.  For instance, The Daily Mail cites as examples of SHAC activism sending letters to the neighbors of a man who did business with Huntington Life Sciences (HLS), warning parents to keep their children away from him, falsely claiming that he had raped the letter writer when she was a child. A woman in her 60s, who worked for a company targeted by SHAC, had every window in her house smashed during the night and found an effigy hanging outside her home, which read "R.I.P. Mary, Animal Abusing Bitch".[1]

The SHAC website, which is no longer in existence, featured Animal Liberation Front (ALF) news.  Robin Webb, spokesman for the ALF in the UK, attended and addressed SHAC conferences in the United States.[2] A posting on the website Bite Back (a Malaysia-registered website and magazine that promotes the cause of the animal liberation movement, and specifically the ALF on 7 Sept 2005 claimed the ALF had carried out an attack on the home of Paul Blackburn, corporate controller of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), in Buckinghamshire, because GSK is a customer of HLS. The detonated device contained two liters of fuel and four pounds of explosives on the doorstep of Blackburn's home. Blackburn's wife & child were home at the time. In 2006 the ALF warned that it was targeting HLS suppliers, and that year firebombed a car belonging to the finance director of Canaccord Capital, a brokerage firm. Members of SHAC said the company had acted as brokers for Phytopharm, which had used HLS for contract testing.[3] Please note that Don Currie was

Now, what does this have to do with Grey2K?  Let's not forget that Christine Dorchak has ties to PeTA & ALF.  Thank goodness I got the screen shot below as it's my understanding that when Ms. Dorchak discovered its existence, she sent a legal letter to them requesting they remove her entry.  I was taught, one is judged by the company they keep. I can see why she would want to deny any connection to Killer Newkirk at PeTA and the domestic terrorists at ALF.

So, who are some of those on the list pictured?

Adam Durand, film maker and president of the group Compassionate Consumers. Also associated with the former group, Animal Rights International.  Mr. Durand entered Wegman's egg farm without permission, taking 11 hens believed to be sick or dying and later released a movie titled “Wegmans Cruelty.”  Convicted and sentenced to jail time and a fine.

Alex Pacheco: Co-founder & Chairman of PeTA, Founder of 600 Million Stray Dogs Need You and on the advisory board of Sea Shepherd.  Also co-founder of Adopt-A-Pet.com and vice president of the New England Anti-Vivisection Society. Subpoenaed in connection with ALF activities.

Bruce Friedrich: PeTA, Farm Sanctuary. Jailed several times for different offenses, the former anti-war protestor believes that hunters should be viewed "with the same revulsion we presently reserve for Nazi doctors and slave traders.” Friedrich has denounced teenage animal-rights activists who dare to question the appropriateness of violent protest and advocates FOR violent protest.
"If we really believe that animals have the same right to be free from pain and suffering at our hands, then, of course we’re going to be, as a movement, blowing things up and smashing windows … I think it’s a great way to bring about animal liberation … I think it would be great if all of the fast-food outlets, slaughterhouses, these laboratories, and the banks that fund them exploded tomorrow. I think it’s perfectly appropriate for people to take bricks and toss them through the windows … Hallelujah to the people who are willing to do it." [click here to listen] [4]
Camille Hankins: one of the directors of the North American Animal Liberation Press Office. She is also a supporter of SHAC and the Animal Liberation Front. Another group that she is a member of is the NY Animal Rights Activists. She is a convicted animal abuser.

She is nothing but a supporter of Terrorism. What is even more hypocritical is her history with animals.

The list goes on & on with pretty much all of them showing hatred & disdain for people and a tendency towards violence.

If we are truly judged by the company we keep, someone really needs to start judging the Grey2K president, Christine Dorchak by her friends & associates.  We are amazed she continues to fly under the radar.

Yours in greyhounds...
