Grey2K Blog - Saving Greys? What a Lie!

Carey Theil, Grey2K USA (Grey2K) and Saving Greys, vs the Iowa Greyhound Association, National Greyhound Association (NGA) and greyhound adoption.
Carey Theil, co-founder of Grey2K and author of the blog, Saving Greys, is throwing a hissy fit because Greyhound owners & breeders in Iowa have had enough of the lies and are standing up to the anti-racing crowd.

In the March 2012 newsletter for the Iowa Greyhound Association, there was a page that puts things well into perspective....

The spread points out that if Grey2K has their way, the tracks will be gone; the farms will be gone; and the adoption groups will be gone. The dog that is so special to so many of us will also gone.

The AR activists say, "There will always be greyhounds..." Yes, there will be AKC bred greyhounds and, hopefully, racing bred greyhounds from overseas.  However, the AKC greyhounds are not easy to come by and it's expensive to import a dog from overseas. I know someone who recently purchased a greyhound pup for $1500 from a disreputable AKC breeder in Texas, who only breeds dogs to sell for the puppy market, sells all the puppies from several large breeds, i.e., Borzoi, Saluki, Ibizan Hounds, Greyhounds, Akbash, Great Pyrenees, and combinations of those breeds.  To borrow a thought from some AKC greyhound breeders, AKC greyhounds and NGA greyhounds are two different breeds.

You need to know that much of what makes our NGA bred, retired racing greyhounds so special are the people surrounding them. If Thiel has his way, those people will also be gone and the retired racing greyhound, as we know it today, will also be gone, never more to be bred, to race, or to be available to the public as a loving and loyal pet. That IS the truth.  You will only hear it here and never from Grey2K.

So, my words to you are, if you value your greyhound, think first before you get a greyhound from an anti-racing group. Think before you donate to either anti-racing groups or Grey2K. Instead, donate to your local  adoption group that is either neutral or supportive of racing.  Unlike Grey2K, monies donated to these groups go directly to the dogs, not to Carey Theil's and Christine Dorchak's (his wife) salaries. Yep..  they are making money off the dogs by taking your donations and putting it in their pockets.  All the while, calling for the destruction of this breed.  Is that really what you want?

Grey2K lies....

  1. Personally, I've done a great deal of thinking lately. I've re-thought who I will be donating money to, I've re-thought who I will be telling perspective adopters to seek out, and I've done some soul searching over it, I don't mind saying that. The dilemma is the dogs who need homes vs. standing on principal. Well, to that I say, without principal, there would be no dogs.
